Hot Power Yoga
My interest in yoga started when I was a teenager practicing yoga DVDs, then videos on Youtube, then took some classes at the uni gym. I started practicing Bikram yoga in 2017 and I was instantly hooked. From then, I practiced several times a week in various hot yoga studios around Scotland with teachers from all over the world. I learned something new from each and was inspired to become a teacher. In 2020, I started to expand my yoga practice, including Fierce Grace and Vinyasa. While I enjoyed the discipline of Bikram yoga, I loved the freedom and fluidity of Vinyasa, and Fierce Grace turned out to be the perfect class system to bring both aspects together. In 2024, I completed my 200hr yoga teacher training in Fierce Grace Yoga in London.
I am passionate about hot yoga and its physical and mental benefits (which are both scientifically proven!). Yoga provides time to meditate, to challenge and accept yourself as you are and be part of a community. Its my privilege to be able to guide others through their practice and to witness positive changes in them. I hope to inspire those I teach as my teachers have inspired me. In my classes I like to encourage a moving mediation, correct alignment, pushing your limits but also being kind to yourself.

Hot Flow
In March 2020 just before the first lockdown I started showing signs of rheumatoid arthritis and overnight I went from a healthy and fit 45 Year old to someone who could not walk across the living room or lift an empty kettle or put my car in gear to drive! Due to Covid I was undiagnosed and untreated for another 18 months.
So, I started walking and doing daily yoga to try and increase my movement and it gave me a lifeline that transformed my life. I have done yoga everyday since then and I am now the fittest that I have ever been in my life. I have just completed the Virtual London Marathon and signed up for the Manchester Marathon 2025! I have just turned 50 and I feel amazing! I am on a mission to bring yoga to as many people as I can. So you can feel amazing too.
Lets dispel the rumours that you need to be flexible or young or spiritual to do yoga, when in fact, anyone who can breathe CAN do yoga.

Hot Yoga & Fundamentals
My recipe for a soul soothing practice is:
sunshine, fresh air, yoga mat, comfy clothes, zero fancy poses.
This is one of my favourite ways to practice, in the garden just me and my mat.
Now, don't get me wrong, I love a matching gym set and I really enjoy challenging myself with more complex poses during classes, but for me, simple poses in my garden practice allow me to give my body and soul just what it needs. With mindful breathing and a gentle flow to help me feel grounded, release what no longer serves me and regulates my nervous system.
I want my classes to be comfortable and confident for what you need. I look forward to teaching you all.

Hot Yin Yoga
I'm Karla and I can't wait to help others discover all of the benefits of yoga at Strathaven Haven. I'm a mum of two, a wife, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a niece, a friend, a yoga teacher, a travel lover and a cold water dipper!
I fell in love with you yoga in my 20s. It makes me feel tall, lean, strong, grounded, rested yet rejuvenated at the same time. There are so many different feelings depending on the type of yoga. Now, I love yoga for the sense of peace and calm it brings me. Its a world away from the chaos at home!
No matter what is happening in my life, I 've always come back to yoga. My mat is my safe haven. I've breathed, laughed, cried, fallen over and gotten back up again time after time. Only after two decades of practicing and many a crossroads in life did I even begin to think I could become a yoga teacher. I am now trained in Seasonal Yoga, Children's Yoga and Chair Yoga. My passion is slowing things down and empowering more people to find a better work-life balance by practicing yoga- after all, it's said to be a workout for mind, body and soul!
I can't wait to help others discover all of the benefits of yoga at Strathaven Haven.

Hot Ashtanga
I came to yoga in my early twenties and always loved how I felt during and after the practice. I
was particularly drawn to the peaceful feeling during relaxation.
In 2004 I took off to India and spent a year living in Ashrams and communities all over from
Rishikesh, Goa, Kerala, Pondicherry, Mysore and Bangalore. I was very fortunate to have
practiced with many local teachers and was steeped in tradition. I was particularly taken with the Sivananda Ashram and its method, so I followed this practice the most. At the end of that year I completed a Yoga Teacher Training course in the Ashram of Swami Vivekenanda, Bangalore. After a life changing year, my travels continued, where I lived in Spain and France continuing my practice with many different teachers. It wasn’t until I came back home to Scotland in 2020 that I fell in love with Ashtanga and so completed another teachers course to refresh and ignite the fires within… and that it did!
I feel that Ashtanga is a wonderful practice and sequence of postures that meets each student
where they are. Yoga is for everyone. It really doesn’t matter what shapes you can do with your body, what matters is taking the time for yourself, showing up for you, and letting the magic of yoga enhance your life into a happier and healthier one.

Hot Power Yoga & Inferno Pilates
Throughout school I studied various forms of dance passing my teachers exam right before University and teaching at a local Dance School for a few years. I was a keen aerobics and gym bunny for many years before being drawn to Pilates then yoga as an old knee and hip injury, then, abdominal separation post pregnancy took their toll.
Yoga has now been a part of my life for over 20 years and my practice has helped me grow stronger, more flexible and fearless, both on and off the mat. I clearly remember my first Hot Yoga Class in 2014 I came out drenched in sweat feeling ecstatic but being in awe of the much younger girls in the front row with their feet right up over their heads in standing bow. A year into my practise my foot was up there too but what was even more amazing was my headspace. I was sleeping soundly, concentrating better, in fact, everything was better.
I completed my 250 hour Yoga Alliance Training in September 2019 and was delighted to arrive back from Italy be have the opportunity to teach classes in Damn Hot in Glasgow’s West End with a great team of teachers and yogis.
Mum duties meant I couldn't complete my Inferno Hot Pilates till a few years later. The classes had helped me improve abdominal muscle separation post pregnancy. HIIT also meant I was building muscle mass and getting stronger.
Through my own practise I realise that class can be intense, meditative, happy or frustrating so I aim to cultivate an inclusive, but not overly serious environment, which is offering classes to all levels in a down to earth and fun way. Meet me on the mat and enjoy the process!
