About us

Our mission is to cultivate a vibrant and inclusive yoga community in Strathaven that welcomes all individuals, regardless of abilities and experience to practice hot yoga in a supportive environment.

We are committed to environmental sustainability, by being centrally located & commutable; eliminating single-use plastic and promote eco-friendly practices ensuring that we care for the planet as we care for each other.

We are Strathaven's first and only hot yoga studio.

Our Strathaven Hot Yoga Haven Story

We are Paul and Jodey Hughes, husband and wife team, and we wanted to create something special for Strathaven and surrounding areas.  Our love for fitness and active recovery has led to the creation, building and opening of Strathaven Hot Yoga Haven.

We recognise that everyone's  lives and minds are incredibly busy so  we know how important and invaluable self-care can be so we want to create a safe space to be able to bring this to Strathaven.  Yoga and mindfulness allows us to switch off and decompress and our heated studio allows you to get deeper into your positions and challenges you further.

More about us

Jodey Hughes co-owner

Jodey is a notable athlete and is known for her contributions to the world of sports, in particular Olympic Weightlifting, competing at the last two Commonwealth Games. She is 10x Scottish Champion and found her love of Yoga and mindfulness after doing Hot Yoga to help her recover in between sessions and help her lose weight for competition. She is currently Team Scotland's  Athlete Director and also has a very busy day job. She also regularly gives talks at schools and groups about stereotypes and women in strength sports. She grew up in Canada, New Brunswick spending her time playing Ice Hockey. She met Paul in Australia backpacking and moved to Scotland after completing her degree and the rest is history! Jodey says:

'I remember my very first hot yoga class, it was incredibly hot and I sweated more than I ever had in my life but it actually felt amazing and it makes your skin glow.

If you’re anything like me, fitting in a session is a challenge enough, so having the commute to Glasgow on top of my day helped cement the fact that not only would this benefit me but so many other people in the area would benefit.'

Paul Hughes co-owner

Paul is East Kilbride born and bred before moving to Strathaven in 2019. A well- travelled gentleman, he’s shown Jodey the world and his knowledge. He loves to laugh, so if you have a clever joke, please direct it to Paul. Paul loves all things fitness and sport and it was he who introduced Jodey to weightlifting through Crossfit. Despite Jodey’s athletic success, it was really all down to Paul that it happened.

Being new to yoga, both Jodey and Paul are keen to create a real community feel to Strathaven Haven. Please let us know what you'd like to see and we can make it happen!
